Signed "Maass" lower right. Previous sales tag affixed en verso. Housed in a contemporary wood frame with a gilt-painted outer border and filet. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 35 1/4" W. Framed: 30 1/8" H x 42" W. Biography: David Maass was born in 1929 in Rochester, Minnesota, and developed an appreciation for birds and wildlife at a young age. He rescued wounded birds, raised pigeons, and often accompanied his stepfather on hunting trips. He befriended wildlife artists Stu Ferrier through work, and David Hagerbaumer while in the U.S. Marine Corps, both of whom encouraged him and helped to develop his technique. Throughout his career, many of his works and illustrations have been exhibited, published, and recognized to benefit wildlife causes (Adapted from AskArt).
